The Government of India has approved two major infrastructure projects for Varanasi (Kashi) worth a total of ₹25,446 crore. According to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw • Varuna Elevated Corridor: 43 km | ₹10,998 crore | Expected completion in about 4 years | Built under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM). • Ganga Elevated Corridor: 46 km | ₹14,448 crore | Includes a signature cable-stayed bridge connecting areas near IIT-BHU, Lanka Chowk and Ramnagar.
The government says these projects are designed to reduce traffic congestion and improve connectivity in one of India's most visited cities, which receives around 15 crore tourists annually.
