In an exclusive interview with India Today, BJP leader Vinoth B Selvam discussed the newly formed TVK government in Tamil Nadu, focusing on corruption allegations, custodial deaths, and the management of temple lands. Speaking on the controversies surrounding the Palani temple land registration, Selvam stated that the state government is attempting to hand over temple properties to private individuals. He dismissed the HR&C minister's explanations as "absolute nonsense," asserting that the administration is trying to evade accountability.
Selvam also raised concerns over the law and order situation, highlighting a recent custodial death in Kanyakumari. He stated, "Police stations are becoming torture chambers, and this is very unfortunate." Furthermore, he pointed out the TVK leadership's failure to take action against functionaries demanding money, calling their newly launched anti-corruption WhatsApp number a "drama." Warning of future consequences, Selvam remarked, "If this continues for the next six months, this government will be much worse than what the DMK was for Tamil Nadu."
