BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday said his political fight was against the policies and governance of the State government and not against Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy personally. He also announced that he would undertake a State-wide padayatra next year to interact directly with people and understand their concerns. Rama Rao, along with other BRS leaders, was in New Delhi to meet Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and seek the revival of the Cement Corporation of India (CCI) unit in Adilabad.
Speaking informally to the media in New Delhi, Mr. Rama Rao accused the Chief Minister of attempting to divert public attention from what he described as the failures of the Congress government. Taking a swipe at Mr. Revanth Reddy, he said that despite being in office for 31 months, the Chief Minister continued to focus on attacking the BRS instead of addressing public issues. He also criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his alleged silence over what he termed the Chief Minister’s ‘irresponsible statements’, asserting that no Chief Minister should ask for blood from farmers or glorify Hitler.
On the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP), he demanded that the government immediately construct a cofferdam, operationalise the Kannepally pumps and ensure irrigation water supply to farmers. Expressing concern over the prevailing dry spell, Mr. Rama Rao said farmers were facing severe distress while the government was failing to provide adequate irrigation support. The BRS leader further alleged that the Chief Minister had become uneasy after recent political surveys reportedly indicated increasing public support for the BRS. He expressed confidence that the party would return to power and that party president K.
Chandrashekar Rao would once again become Chief Minister. On the issue of the party’s original TRS name, Mr. Rama Rao said it shared a 22-year emotional bond with the people of Telangana. Mr. Rama Rao also targeted Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy over alleged irregularities in land administration.
