Almost one-fourth of Hyderabad electorate marked absent, shifted or dead in SIR

Nearly one-fourth electors in Hyderabad have been marked as ASD (absent, shifted or dead) by the district election authorities, who, on Wednesday, announced the completion of enumeration form distribution under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the district. According to data released by District Election Officer and GHMC commissioner R.V. Karnan, 11,52,613 electors have been classified as ASD, accounting for 24.33% of Hyderabad’s total electorate. Separate figures for the absent, shifted and dead categories are not yet available and will be released after the enumeration phase, which has been extended from July 24 to August 3.
Officials said deceased electors are being verified through death certificates uploaded by Booth Level Officers (BLOs). However, no documentary proof is currently available for those categorised as absent or shifted. With BLOs not conducting door-to-door visits in several areas, even forms that have not been collected by residents are being placed under the same category. The data also showed that 3,73,349 enumeration forms have been submitted online. Karnan has assured that those who have not received the forms yet may approach the BLOs and collect them. “The BLOs are sitting at a central location in each area post noon.
Electors may approach them to collect the form or seek help in filling the form, and returning it,” he said, addressing the media on Wednesday, and urged all voters in the city to make haste in filling the form and returning it. Only the names of those who return the form before the deadline will appear in the draft electoral rolls, he said. Among the Assembly constituencies, Chandrayangutta recorded the highest number of ASD electors at 1,23,591, representing 32.76% of its electorate. Karwan followed with 1,02,380 ASD electors while Nampally recorded the highest proportion after Chandrayangutta, with 29.03% of its electorate falling under the category.
Digitisation of completed enumeration forms has reached 25.52% of the total electorate. Excluding ASD electors, the digitisation rate works out to 33.73% of the forms actually distributed. Officials expect the figures to improve following the extension of the enumeration deadline. Statewide, enumeration form distribution has reached 99.99%. The remaining 0.01% pertains to Ranga Reddy (99.96%), Medchal Malkajgiri (99.93%) and Vikarabad (99.9%) districts. However, as ASD figures for Ranga Reddy and Medchal Malkajgiri have not been released, the actual extent of form distribution in those districts cannot yet be estimated.
