Fill and return enumeration forms even if 2002 electoral roll details are unavailable, says Karnataka CEO Anbu Kumar
Chief Electoral Officer for Karnataka V. Anbu Kumar on Wednesday urged voters not to delay submitting their enumeration forms under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision
Chief Electoral Officer for Karnataka V. Anbu Kumar on Wednesday urged voters not to delay submitting their enumeration forms under the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls merely because their details were not available in the 2002 electoral rolls. “Even if your details are not available in the 2002 electoral roll, fill up the enumeration form, affix your photograph, sign it and hand it over to the Booth Level Officer (BLO).
Your name will continue to appear in the draft electoral roll,” Mr. Anbu Kumar told presspersons. He said such electors would subsequently receive a notice from the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), following which they could produce any one of the 12 documents prescribed by the Election Commission. The ERO would then take a decision after due verification, as per the rules.
The CEO clarified that the present exercise was only meant for the collection and digitisation of enumeration forms. Corrections “If voters want to correct their address, name, age, mobile number or any other particulars, they need not do so now. Such requests can be made after the publication of the draft electoral roll during the claims and objections period,” he said.
Under the revised schedule announced by the Election Commission, the draft electoral roll will be published on August 17, after which claims and objections, including requests for corrections, can be submitted until September 16.
