More than 500 devotees took the ‘Varahi Deeksha’ vow at the launch of the annual ‘Varahi Navaratri Brahmotsavam’ at Sri Shakti Peetham premises in Rayala
More than 500 devotees took the ‘Varahi Deeksha’ vow at the launch of the annual ‘Varahi Navaratri Brahmotsavam’ at Sri Shakti Peetham premises in Rayala Cheruvu on Wednesday. The Peetham is home to the Pathala Swetha Varahi Kshetram, where the sanctum sanctorum is located at a sub-surface level.
The nine-day festival got off to a traditional start with the blessings of ‘Courtallam Swamy’ Sri Siddheswarananda Bharati Swamy, while the proceedings were executed by the officiating junior pontiff Sri Ramyananda Bharatha Swamini. The day’s events began at 6.30 a.m. with rituals like ‘Deepa Sthapana’, ‘Ganapati Puja’, ‘Kalasa Puja’, Maha Sankalpam’ and ‘Varahi Mahayantra Puja’, following which the devotees accepted the divine vow ‘Varahi Deeksha’.
Thousands of devotees made a beeline to the Peetham to witness the deity. Arrangements are in place to serve food to 2,000 devotees every day. Meanwhile,
the TTD’s Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) super specialty hospital is conducting a medical camp at the premises for the benefit of the devotees.
