Security Adviser Ajit Doval on Tuesday met Myanmar's Security Adviser U Tin Aung San on the sidelines of the 5th Meeting of BIMSTEC Security Chiefs, where the two sides reviewed bilateral security cooperation and discussed regional security issues.

The meeting comes amid New Delhi's concerns over insurgent groups, arms smuggling and cross-border infiltration using Myanmar as a base. The meeting also took place as India uses the BIMSTEC NSA-level talks to push for greater coordination with its eastern neighbours on key security challenges, including terrorism, drug trafficking, cyber threats and border management.
