The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested the District Ground Water Officer in Suryapet, and an outsourced data entry operator, while accepting ₹20,000 bribe for granting permission for a borewell drilling rig, and not imposing fine or seizing the rig.
According to the ACB, Megavath Balu allegedly demanded the bribe from the complainant through outsourced data entry operator Kosanju Venkateshwarlu. Acting on the complaint, ACB officials from the Nalgonda range trapped the duo while they accepted the bribe amount.
The accused were produced before the special court for SPE and ACB cases in Nampally for judicial remand. The complainant’s identity has been withheld for security reasons, while further investigation
is underway. Meanwhile, the ACB urged citizens to report any demand for bribe by public servants through its toll-free helpline 1064, assuring that the identity of complainants will be kept confidential.
