A woman was stabbed to death inside her home in Meerut on July 12. For days, the killer's identity remained a mystery. But as police began piecing together the clues, the case took a shocking turn, revealing a betrayal from within the family rather than an outsider’s hand. The accused was Rimsha, Nida's own sister-in-law. And at the centre of the crime was Uwais, Nida's brother-in-law and the husband of the accused, Rimsha.
Read Full Story According to police, Nida and Uwais had allegedly grown close, close enough for Rimsha to notice. The alleged relationship was a source of tension between the two women for some time, spilling over into frequent arguments under the same roof. On July 12, Rimsha went to her parents' home around noon. An argument broke out between the two women. The same argument, police said, had played out many times before.
This time, however, Rimsha allegedly reached for a vegetable knife from the kitchen and stabbed Nida in the chest. Nida died in the attack. After registering a murder case, Meerut Police began piecing together the sequence of events. Technical surveillance and questioning during the probe pointed towards Rimsha, said Circle Officer Kotwali Meerut Sangram Singh. "During the investigation, it came to light that Nida had developed a close relationship with Uwais, Rimsha's husband.
This was the reason behind repeated disputes between the two women," Singh said. Police claimed Rimsha confessed to the crime during interrogation. The knife allegedly used in the murder was recovered based on her disclosure. She has since been produced before the court. Police are investigating whether anyone else was involved. Ends
