A physically disabled man arrested in connection with an illegal gutka sale case was found dead in judicial custody in Tamil Nadu's Nagercoil, triggering protests by family members and local residents, who alleged custodial torture. The post-mortem examination of the victim revealed 19 injuries on his body and senior police officers said three jail warders, along with inmates, assaulted him inside the prison.
