Telangana Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha announced that the State government will introduce a new policy aimed at strengthening healthcare infrastructure across tribal areas
Telangana Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha announced that the State government will introduce a new policy aimed at strengthening healthcare infrastructure across tribal areas, with a focus on improving access to medical services in remote regions without relying solely on population-based norms. Chairing a review meeting with legislators from Bhadradri Kothagudem district and senior officials in Hyderabad on Wednesday (July 15, 2026), the Minister said government hospitals in tribal areas would be developed based on the needs of local communities and their proximity to healthcare facilities.
He said new sub-centres and Primary Health Centres (PHCs) would be sanctioned wherever required, while existing PHCs, Community Health Centres (CHCs) and area hospitals would be upgraded in a phased manner. CT scan services at all ITDA area hospitals As part of the initiative, the Minister announced that CT scan services would be introduced in phases at all area hospitals under the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) limits, including those at Bhadrachalam, Ashwaraopeta and Yellandu. An ambulance for each mandal Raja Narasimha said an ambulance for each mandal in Bhadradri Kothagudem district was sanctioned and that additional ambulances would soon be provided to CHCs and area hospitals.
He also noted that while the district currently has seven dialysis centres, four more had been sanctioned to ensure patients could access dialysis services within a 20-minute travel time. Responding to requests made by the MLAs, the Minister announced the upgradation of Patwarigudem and Annaperatipalli PHCs, the establishment of a new sub-centre at Gandugulapalli, the upgradation of Komuraram
hospital and the operationalisation of a new intensive care unit (ICU) at Yellandu hospital. Kothagudem MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao urged the Minister to expedite construction of the Kothagudem Medical College, appoint a dedicated superintendent for the MCH Centre due to its distance from the Government General Hospital, and take action against doctors and staff who fail to maintain punctuality.
