A custodial death in Tamil Nadu has triggered widespread outrage after 35-year-old Sabari Varman, who was remanded to judicial custody in a banned gutka case, died at Nagercoil District Jail. Police have arrested three prison staff members in connection with the incident. While authorities say CCTV footage shows Sabari Varman was treated properly during his time at the police station, his family has alleged custodial assault and demanded justice.
