A woman in Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur allegedly consumed poison along with her three daughters after suspecting that her husband had entered into a second marriage
A woman in Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur allegedly consumed poison along with her three daughters after suspecting that her husband had entered into a second marriage, leading to a tragic outcome that claimed the lives of the mother and one child. Two other girls are undergoing treatment, while police have launched an investigation into the circumstances that led to the incident. The incident was reported from Parsauna village in Mirzapur. According to police, information was received on the night of July 13 from the Madihan Primary Health Centre (PHC) that 38-year-old Kusum and her three daughters—12-year-old Madhu, 10-year-old Radhika and 8-year-old Satya—had been admitted in critical condition after allegedly consuming poison.
Read Full Story Given their condition, all four were referred to the district hospital for advanced treatment. Despite medical efforts, Kusum and Radhika succumbed during treatment at the district hospital. Madhu and Satya continue to receive treatment and remain under medical supervision. Police are awaiting further developments in their condition as part of the ongoing investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that Kusum had been distressed over suspicions that her husband, Dharmendra, who works in Delhi, had married another woman. The dispute had reportedly been discussed between the two families, and a compromise was reached a day before the incident.
However, Dharmendra allegedly did not arrive to take Kusum home as planned, which investigators believe may have further aggravated the situation. Rajkumar Meena, Additional Superintendent of Police (Operations), said, "Kusum's husband, Dharmendra, works in Delhi. The woman suspected that he had entered into a second marriage". “A compromise had been reached between the two parties regarding this dispute just a day earlier, but the husband did not arrive to take her home as planned. The police believe that the woman took this step out of distress over this situation," he added.
Police have initiated an inquiry to establish the exact sequence of events and verify all aspects surrounding the alleged poisoning. Statements of family members and other concerned persons are expected to be recorded as part of the investigation. Authorities are also monitoring the condition of the two surviving girls, while further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the probe. Ends
