A 21-year-old dental student was killed and her friend sustained serious injuries after she lost control of the vehicle she was driving, hit the median and overturned on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Tukkuguda in the early hours of Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Addanki Amulya, a resident of Secunderabad and a student at MNR Dental College.
Her friend, Siddarth, who was travelling with her in the front passenger seat, suffered injuries and is undergoing treatment at a hospital. According to the Shamshabad police, Amulya had left her residence at around 1.30 a.m. on Tuesday with Siddarth in her car. The two had travelled to Shamshabad and were returning home when they reportedly lost their way and headed towards Pedda Amberpet.
Police said that after crossing the Pedda Golkonda exit toll plaza at around 6 a.m., the car went out of control, crashed into the median on the right side of the carriageway and overturned onto the opposite carriageway towards Shamshabad. ORR patrol personnel alerted Amulya’s family after identifying her. She suffered severe head and multiple other injuries and was declared dead at the scene.
Siddarth was shifted to the hospital with serious injuries. Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s father, Addanki Madhusudhan, a retired government employee, the Shamshabad police registered a case and launched an investigation into the accident.
