The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for several districts in Odisha due to the likelihood of heavy to very heavy rainfall, including isolated extremely heavy rainfall, over the next 48 hours. According to IMD Bhubaneswar Director Manorama Mohanty Extremely heavy rainfall is expected in Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, and Bhadrak during the next 24 hours. Heavy to very heavy rain is also forecast in Balasore, Jajpur, Cuttack, Puri, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
The IMD has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea for the next five days along and off the Odisha coast. Residents are advised to follow official weather updates and local administration advisories.
