In an exclusive interview, Indian cricketer Yastika Bhatia discussed her historic achievement of becoming the first Indian woman to score a century in a Test match at Lord's. Reflecting on the milestone and India's victory over England, she shared the personal significance of the moment after a challenging year of injuries. "I just felt very emotional for all the sacrifices, all the tears, hard work, and just all coming off well, and I could score that century," she stated.
Bhatia also highlighted the evolution of the Indian women's cricket team over the past three years, noting a shift toward an aggressive and positive mindset. She emphasized the team's primary goal of winning matches and World Cups for the country. Addressing the status of women's cricket in India, Bhatia acknowledged the support from the cricket board, confirming that female players now receive equal pay and facilities. She also mentioned her sporting background in karate, swimming, badminton, and basketball before choosing cricket, and named Smriti Mandhana and Virat Kohli as her idols.
