(Image via X) Delhi Police constable Manish Bhati, who had been on the run after allegedly shooting his wife dead in east Delhi, was found dead on Tuesday evening with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said. Bhati’s body was recovered from a park near Mayur Vihar in east Delhi. Police said the constable is suspected to have died by suicide after shooting himself with his service revolver. His death comes a day after he allegedly killed his wife, Priyanka, and fled the scene, triggering a large-scale search operation across Delhi-NCR and parts of Haryana.

Delhi Police are examining the circumstances surrounding his death and have launched further legal proceedings. Cop allegedly shot wife after argument According to police, Bhati, a 2022-batch Delhi Police constable posted with the Anti Auto Theft Squad (AATS), had been absconding since Monday after allegedly shooting his 30-year-old wife in the chest following an argument in the Kalyanpuri area. Multiple police teams had been carrying out raids in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Faridabad and several parts of Haryana based on technical surveillance and other leads. Dowry claim being probed The deceased’s family has alleged that she had been subjected to dowry harassment since her marriage in 2023 and had earlier approached the women’s cell with a complaint against her husband and his family. Police said the allegations are being verified as part of the investigation. According to the investigation, the couple left their New Vinod Nagar residence together on a two-wheeler in the early hours of Monday after an argument.

CCTV footage recovered by police allegedly shows them stopping on a road near Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, where an argument ensued before the constable allegedly opened fire and fled.
