The US President has dropped the proposed twenty per cent transit fee plan for ships moving through the Strait of Hormuz. Instead of the toll, a full blockade has been announced on ships travelling to and from Iranian ports or carrying Iranian cargo. While the waterway remains open to other international shipping, the US President credited the military for securing it.
Additionally, trade and investment agreements with Gulf nations have been promised. This policy shift comes as the conflict between the US and Iran over the vital waterway continues to intensify on the ground.
