The United States has deployed unmanned undersea and surface drones in the Strait of Hormuz to target ship maintenance facilities near the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas. These remotely piloted sea drones, equipped with GPS, cameras, radars, and sensors, perform surveillance, reconnaissance, and mine clearance operations. Some high-speed unmanned speedboats function as kamikaze or suicide boats, ramming directly into enemy ships and coastal targets without risking human lives.
Additionally, these drones escort naval fleets and monitor maritime traffic to secure the shipping lane. The United States is also demanding a twenty percent reimbursement from every ship crossing the waterway to cover the costs of providing security.
