ACB books HMDA chief engineer in disproportionate assets case, uncovers assets worth ₹9.24 crore

The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday registered a disproportionate assets case against Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) Chief Engineer B. Ravinder and unearthed assets worth about ₹9.24 crore during simultaneous searches at his residence, office and nine other locations linked to his relatives, associates and benamidars. According to the ACB, documents relating to multiple immovable properties were recovered during the searches. These include five open plots in Kondakal, Kistapur and Pasamail villages valued at ₹38.9 lakh, four residential flats at Narsingi and Nanakramguda worth ₹2.07 crore, four acres of agricultural land in Gudur village of Kothur mandal valued at ₹6 lakh, a semi-finished 300 square yard villa at Mokila in Shankarpally mandal worth ₹1.34 crore and a G+4 commercial building at Masjid Banda, Kondapur, valued at ₹3 crore.
The agency said the market value of these properties is expected to be substantially higher than their officially declared value. Officials also seized ₹3.82 lakh in cash, bank balances of approximately ₹45.06 lakh, gold ornaments weighing about 1.44 kg valued at ₹36.7 lakh and silver ornaments weighing around 12.5 kg worth ₹10 lakh. Household articles valued at ₹17.24 lakh, electronic gadgets worth ₹9.32 lakh and four vehicles collectively valued at ₹1.16 crore, were also identified during the searches.
The ACB said the total value of the assets identified so far is estimated at ₹9.24 crore and that verification of additional assets is under way. A case has been registered under Section 13(1)(b) read with
Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018. The accused officer was produced before the special court for SPE and ACB Cases in Hyderabad for judicial remand. Further investigation is under way.
