EC extends SIR schedule for Haryana, Andhra Pradesh

The Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday (July 14, 2026) extended the schedule of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Andhra Pradesh and Haryana. The two States are part of Phase 3 of the SIR rolled out on May 14, which is covering 16 States and Union Territories. In separate letters to the Chief Electoral Officers of both States, the poll body extended the deadline for various activities under the SIR by various dates. In both Haryana and Andhra Pradesh, the house-to-house visits by Booth Level Officers (BLO), known as the Enumeration Phase, will continue till July 24, while the earlier deadline was July 14.
The draft rolls in the two States were earlier scheduled to be published on July 21. Now, they will be published on July 31. The final list of these two States will now be published on October 3, a week later than originally scheduled. The States and Union Territories where the SIR- 3 is being carried out in a staggered manner are Delhi, Odisha, Mizoram, Sikkim, Manipur, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Telangana, Punjab, Karnataka, Meghalaya, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Nagaland, Tripura, Dadar and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
The combined voter base of these States is 36.73 crore. A total of 23,82,014 or 6.39% of 3.72 crore names have been deleted till now in the draft voter lists of five States and Union Territories which have been published so far as part of the third phase of the SIR. The draft lists have been published for Odisha, Manipur, Mizoram, Sikkim and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. With this phase, the exercise will cover the entire country except Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
The SIR schedule for these States will be announced later after considering the completion of Phase-II of the Census and due consideration of the weather in the upper reaches or snow-bound areas, according to the EC.
