HYDERABAD A delegation of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) led by L. Ramana and Karne Prabhakar met Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharshan Reddy here on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum on the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls. They brought to the notice of the CEO that booth level officers (BLOs) were not functioning properly at field level and they were unable to clarify on the doubts being expressed by voters.
Speaking to newspapersons later, the BRS leaders said they were unable to get satisfactory answers from the Election Commission for some doubts and the problems in SIR were of various types in rural areas. They had also explained to the CEO that the time-frame finalised by the EC for SIR was not enough and repeated requests to extend had no response.
Even the CEO too had written to the EC, but in vain. A team also called on one of the Election Commissioners in Delhi, but there was no resolution to the issues raised by them The BLOs and other officials involved in the exercise were still facing court cases in West Bengal for committing errors in the process - either wilfully or out of ignorance, the BRS leaders pointed out.
The reiterated the appeal to extend the time for SIR and resolve issues raised by voters in the form of petitions.
