The movie Satluj, which was to be released two years ago under the name Punjab 95, was released illegally on a digital platform without obtaining certification from the central government. Sources confirm that the filmmakers ignored around 127 cuts suggested by the Central Board of Film Certification and released the film in its raw form, leading to its removal.
The central government has stated that state governments have the authority to take legal action against the filmmakers and anyone screening the movie. Despite being taken down, pirated copies of the film are going viral on social media platforms and are being screened at different Gurdwaras across the country.
