The horrific incident took place in the Khalkapura area. The accused loan shark allegedly called the victim, a widow, to his house and set her ablaze over the unpaid debt. According to preliminary information, the woman had borrowed the money from the accused to meet household expenses but was struggling to repay it. The accused, identified as Babubhai Rawal, allegedly poured petrol on her and set her on fire.
