A 75-year-old man was killed in a wild elephant attack near K.G. Chavadi in Coimbatore district in the early hours on Tuesday (July 14, 2026).
The deceased was identified as Nataraj, a resident of Pudhupathi village. According to Forest Department officials, Nataraj had gone to a nearby stream to attend nature’s call when a lone wild elephant attacked him.
Forest personnel rescued the injured man and rushed him to hospital. However, he succumbed to injuries on the way. The body was kept at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Forest Department officials are inquiring into the incident.
