A 30-year-old woman in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur has accused her husband of never consummating their marriage, refusing to undergo a fertility test and later subjecting her to dowry harassment. Based on her complaint, the police have registered an FIR against the man and his family. The couple were married on November 19, 2021, in Lucknow. In her complaint, she alleged that from the very first day of the marriage, her husband avoided physical intimacy, repeatedly telling her he was undergoing medical treatment and that things would improve once his medication was over.

Growing suspicious, she allegedly took her husband to a private hospital, where a doctor advised him to provide a sperm sample for examination. However, the husband allegedly refused to undergo the test. The woman further alleged that whenever she raised the issue or urged him to seek treatment, her husband and his family began demanding Rs 5 lakh.
She also alleged that she was assaulted and thrown out of the house after questioning her husband about his refusal to undergo treatment. The in-laws allegedly told her not to unless she brought Rs 5 lakh with her Based on her complaint, the police registered an FIR on July 12 against her husband, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law and another family member.
