Ludhiana witnessed major traffic disruption on Monday as a large group of Nihang Sikhs staged a protest outside the Deputy Commissioner's office, blocking both sides of the busy Ferozepur Road and demanding justice in a three-year-old case involving the death of Nihang Fatehveer Singh. The protesters began their sit-in around 10 a.m., occupying the middle of the road and bringing traffic to a standstill. Long queues of vehicles were seen stretching across the area as commuters faced significant delays due to the blockade.

According to the protesters, those responsible for his death continue to roam freely despite repeated demands for justice. The Nihang Sikhs said they had been approaching the police and administration for the past three years seeking action but had received no satisfactory response. Frustrated by what they described as official inaction, they said they were compelled to take to the streets.
Protesters warned that their dharna and road blockade would continue until the police provide a concrete assurance of action and arrest those allegedly responsible for Fatehveer Singh's death. However, the police rejected the allegation that it was a murder case. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Harpal Singh said a Special Investigation Team (SIT) had examined the matter and concluded that the case did not involve homicide. "The SIT's investigation found that it was a natural death and not a murder case.
In such circumstances, the question of arresting anyone does not arise," the officer said. The conflicting claims have intensified tensions, with protesters insisting that the case be reopened and investigated afresh. Authorities were engaged in talks with the demonstrators to restore normal traffic movement and prevent further disruption in the city. No reports of violence were received during the protest.
