However, no additional details were immediately released, and there has been no official confirmation or response from the US military or the White House. Tensions Continue To Rise In Hormuz The reported drone downing comes as the US launched a third consecutive night of strikes on Iran. US Central Command said the attacks were aimed at weakening Iran’s military capabilities and its ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump has also announced the reimposition of a US naval blockade on Iranian ports, set to begin on Tuesday, while unveiling plans to charge a 20% fee on cargo passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
The move has further heightened tensions across the region and sent global oil prices sharply higher. Adding to concerns over security in the strategic waterway, the UAE said on Tuesday that an Indian crew member was killed after two UAE tankers were hit by Iranian cruise missiles in Omani territorial waters near the Strait of Hormuz. Eight other crew members were injured in the attack. The MQ-1 Predator is a US unmanned aircraft primarily used for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions. It is also capable of carrying precision-guided AGM-114 Hellfire missiles. Each aircraft is estimated to cost around $4 million, with a complete operational system valued at roughly $20 million.
