The bodies of 15 Indian tourists who died in last week's tragic boat accident in Vietnam were brought back to India on Monday night, with a special Vietnam Airlines flight landing at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. According to PTI, flight VN 979 from Ho Chi Minh City touched down at 9.19 pm, carrying the mortal remains of the victims. Family members and officials were present as arrangements began to transport the bodies to their respective hometowns for the last rites.

The bodies will now be flown to Coimbatore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Thiruvananthapuram, where grieving families are awaiting their arrival. DEADLY BOAT ACCIDENT OFF PHU QUOC The victims were among a group of Indian tourists travelling on a speedboat near Vietnam's Phu Quoc Island when the vessel capsized on Saturday.
The tourists were part of a company- incentive trip organised by smartphone maker Lava Mobiles for its channel partners, distributors and employees. According to the Indian Embassy in Hanoi, the boat was carrying 32 Indian tourists and four Vietnamese crew members. It overturned around 400 metres off Hon May Rut Ngoai island while the group was returning from an island-hopping excursion. The accident claimed the lives of 15 Indian tourists, while 21 people were rescued in a large-scale operation by Vietnamese authorities.
Most of the survivors have since returned to India after receiving medical treatment in Vietnam. One survivor, however, remains in critical condition at a hospital in Phu Quoc, where doctors continue to provide intensive care. Ends
