A speedboat carrying thirty-two Indian tourists and four crew members capsized off Vietnam's southern island of Phú Quốc, resulting in the deaths of fifteen Indian tourists. The vessel, operated by Minh Huu Phu Quoc Trading and Tourism Company Limited, overturned nearly four hundred meters from the shore while traveling from the Hòn Mê route to An Thới Port.
The tragedy has affected families across South India, with ten victims from Tamil Nadu, three from Andhra Pradesh, and two from Kerala. The Government of India is coordinating with Vietnamese authorities to bring the victims home. Vietnamese police have detained the boat's captain as investigators examine potential safety lapses, rough seas, and mechanical issues.
