A man claiming to be a US citizen has been detained by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) near the India-Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh's Maharajganj district.
He was allegedly attempting to cross into Nepal without valid travel documents. During preliminary questioning, the man claimed he was from California and had lost his passport in Thailand before entering India through irregular routes.
