CPI State secretary M. Veerapandian on Monday urged the Tamil Nadu government to erect a comprehensive fence around Puzhal Lake, one of Chennai’s primary sources of drinking water, to prevent dumping of waste and other forms of pollution.
After inspecting the lake, Mr. Veerapandian said he was shocked by its condition. “The lake should be protected from turning into a dumping ground and
a site for open defecation. It requires proper fencing and adequate security, as it is a vital source of Chennai’s drinking water,” he said.
