Following a controversy over Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan’s comments on Sunday (July 12, 2026), which were interpreted as an indirect criticism of Nair Service Society (NSS) general secretary G. Sukumaran Nair, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president Rajeev Chandrasekhar has said that the reports that the BJP is against the NSS general secretary are false. Radhakrishnan, who spoke after unveiling a statue of NSS founder Mannathu Padmanabhan in New Delhi on Sunday, had said that the president or general secretary of the NSS should not believe that they are everything, as the organisation draws its powers from the contributions of Mannam.
He said that no one should dictate who can or cannot enter the Mannam Samadhi. Union Minister of State for Petroleum Suresh Gopi reportedly said that “purification” will happen at the Perunna headquarters of the NSS. In a statement on Monday (July 13, 2026), Mr. Chandrasekhar said that the BJP has never interfered in the internal affairs of the NSS and also has no plans to interfere.
‘Huge respect’ “The BJP highly respects the NSS and its general secretary G. Sukumaran Nair as a strong community organisation of the Hindus. The NSS general secretary is the one who provided me with all kinds of support and assistance when I came to Kerala as the State
president of the BJP. I have a very personal relationship with him. The BJP, as a political party ruling the country, can only approach the Nair Service Society and its general secretary, who work for the uplifting of lakhs of Nair community members, with great responsibility,” he said.
