The incident took place in Shrirampura village near Ajmer city. The incident came to light when a burnt vehicle was spotted roughly about 500 metres from the victim’s house, according to a report by NDTV. The victims were identified as Ram Singh Choudhary, a former sarpanch, his mother Poosi Devi, his second wife Suryagyan Devi, and his niece Mahima Chaudhary. While three charred bodies were discovered inside the car, the body of Suryagyan was found in a nearby field, with her throat slit and blood scattered around, NDTV reported.
A Prolonged Domestic Conflict Investigators allege that the victim’s first wife and their two children orchestrated the attack amid a prolonged domestic dispute, adding they were apprehended in connection with the murder. According to the NDTV report, citing the police, Ram Singh had married Sunita in 2005 and shared two children with her — their daughter Sarita and a minor son. In 2019, he tied the knot with Suryagyan against Sunita’s wishes, and what followed was a prolonged domestic dispute. Superintendent of Police Harsh Vardhan Agarwala said the case initially appeared to be a fire incident, but early findings hinted at a murder plot. When police reached the victim’s house after the incident, Sunita claimed Ram Singh had taken his ailing mother to the hospital. However, when interrogated, their minor son confessed to the crime. He said his father often assaulted his mother and sister under the influence of alcohol.
His mother Sunita — who did all household chores — was not allowed to step outside. Due to frequent harassment and assault, he had developed a deep resentment towards his father, alleged the son, as per NDTV. How Incident Unfolded On May 27, a heated argument broke out between Ram Singh and Sunita. During the fight, the son allegedly threatened to kill his father and later that night, he attacked him with a knife and slit his throat while he was asleep. Suryagran, who was sleeping next to Ram Singh, woke up and saw the boy. Fearing exposure, he killed her as well, as per the NDTV report. Hearing the kerfuffle, Ram Singh’s mother Poosi Devi and niece Mahima Chaudhary rushed to the site. Sunita, daughter Sarita, and the boy then attacked the duo to eliminate witnesses. The bodies were then loaded into a Scorpio, which the accused drove to a secluded spot about 500 metres away from the house.
Subsequently, the vehicle was set on fire. A further probe into the matter is underway.
