(File photo) One Assam Rifles jawan was killed and four others were injured in a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Nagaland’s Chümoukedima district on Monday. The explosion occurred near Sukhovi, where the Assam Rifles has a training centre. According to reports, the blast took place while Assam Rifles vehicles were moving through the area.
Defence Public Relations Officer (PRO), Kohima, confirmed that one security personnel lost his life in the explosion. Four other Assam Rifles personnel sustained injuries in the incident. The injured were immediately shifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment. Their condition was not known at the time of reporting. Officials have not yet confirmed the exact cause of the explosion.
