A video circulating on social media purportedly shows villagers assisting security forces in surrounding and catching the American national. Authorities said Brown’s statements during questioning have repeatedly changed, prompting joint security and intelligence agencies to examine his claims closely. In a video message issued by the Police Media Cell, the officer said Brown was detained by the SSB while attempting to cross into Nepal without authorisation. According to the officer, Brown told investigators he had travelled to Thailand on a tourist visa, where he lost his passport. He then allegedly travelled to Sri Lanka by sea before reaching India through another sea route on November 2, 2025. Since then, he claimed to have been residing in Goa. Officials said no valid travel documents were found in his possession. A case has been registered at Sonauli Police Station under Sections 21 and 23 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act for entering India without valid documents. However, investigators said his account of how he reached the India-Nepal border kept changing. In one version, Brown claimed he lost or had his passport stolen in Thailand before travelling through Sri Lanka and entering India by sea.
