The accused, who had been working at the construction site for nearly two-and-a-half months, had befriended the girl and her brothers and often played with them. CCTV footage allegedly showed him taking the victim away on the pretext of buying her snacks and a soft drink. Police said the minor was taken to the third floor of the building, where she was allegedly raped and then repeatedly struck on the head with an iron rod.
Her body was later dropped through a shaft into the basement to conceal the crime. Two accused, one adult and one minor, have been arrested. Accused Had Spent Months Gaining Victim’s Trust According to police, the accused had become familiar with the victim and her family during his time working at the under-construction mall. He allegedly used chocolates, chips and toffees to gain the trust of the girl and her brothers. The victim had been missing since Friday evening, according to her maternal uncle. Her parents, who work as labourers at the same construction site and live in a makeshift shelter on the premises, had been searching for her for several hours. Bloodstains Found On Walls And Floor Police said the accused took the girl to the third floor of the building, where she was sexually assaulted and raped before being murdered. She was allegedly hit repeatedly on the head with an iron rod.
Investigators found bloodstains on the walls and floor of the third floor, where the crime is believed to have taken place. A post-mortem examination confirmed that the victim had been raped and died due to a severe head injury. Body Dropped Through Shaft Into Basement After the murder, the accused allegedly dropped the girl’s body through a shaft from the third floor into the basement in an attempt to hide the crime. Police said the lack of electricity inside the under-construction building made it easier for the accused to dispose of the body without being noticed. The victim’s relatives found her body in the basement at around 1.05 am. According to the family, she had suffered a severe head injury and multiple fractures. Police identified the two main accused through CCTV footage and other evidence and arrested them. The victim’s slippers and trousers, as well as the bloodstained iron rod allegedly used in the murder, were also recovered.
