The Joint Parliamentary Committee has finalised its draft report on the 130th Constitution Amendment Bill, which proposes a thirty-day custody rule for the Prime Minister, chief ministers, and ministers. Under the proposed legislation, if a sitting executive head or minister remains in custody for thirty consecutive days, they will face temporary removal rather than permanent ouster, applicable only to serious offences carrying a punishment of five years of imprisonment or more.
