Tensions between the United States and Iran have escalated with both sides launching attacks over the last few days. The US has targeted over 400 locations inside Iran, including Qeshm Island and Bandar Abbas, to prevent Iran from taking control of the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has rejected US directives for the waterway, claiming control and neutralising US drones.
The conflict has disrupted maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, impacting the global economy and crude oil prices. Following an attack on a vessel, India's Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that ten out of eleven Indian nationals on board have been rescued, while one remains missing. India has appealed for dialogue, peace, and safe passage.
