The Andhra Pradesh BJP Scheduled Caste (SC) Morcha on Sunday (July 12, 2026) accused the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) of politicising Dalit issues and attempting to create divisions within society for political gain, and asked the State government to take legal action against certain individuals over their alleged remarks on Hindu beliefs. Addressing a press conference in Vijayawada, BJP SC Morcha State president Panthala Suresh said the NDA government was prioritising the welfare and empowerment of Scheduled Castes through various socio-economic programmes.
He alleged that YSRCP president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was attempting to create differences among Dalit communities to obstruct the State government’s development agenda, and appealed to Dalits not to become instruments of political conspiracies. Suresh sought legal action, including the registration of cases under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), against Jada Sravan, actor Prakash Raj and others over their alleged comments concerning Hindu beliefs.
He further alleged that remarks made by several individuals, including CPI leader K. Ramakrishna, were politically motivated, and claimed the YSRCP had publicly supported them. He said the BJP SC Morcha would continue to support Dalits whenever injustice occurred, and that the NDA government was committed to ensuring that welfare benefits reached the most disadvantaged sections of society. He also alleged that attempts were being made to create social tensions in the name of Dalit issues, and called for a full investigation into unlawful activities.
Suresh said the BJP SC Morcha would hold a State-wide roundtable with Dalit leaders on July 15 to discuss issues concerning the Scheduled Castes. Party leaders Valluri Gangadhar, Kanteti Brahmaiah, Mekala Lakshman and Sarvasuddhi Raju were present.
