According to police, she died by hanging herself from a ceiling fan installed in her bedroom.
Police told CNN-News18 that the deceased –– Shwetha, who was a native of Shivamogga –– also left behind a suicide note, blaming her husband and sister-in-law for her decision. “They have been subjecting me to harassment. They have made me lose all desire to live. Mother, if I die, please do not let them go unpunished. I made a mistake. Please forgive me," she wrote. Police told CNN-News18 that Shwetha had entered into a love marriage four months ago. The couple reportedly had been having frequent marital disputes since their marriage, and they had allegedly argued again on Friday, July 10. Shwetha, who worked as a teacher at a private school, allegedly died by suicide following the argument.
Following the incident, Kamakshipalya Police visited the spot and began an investigation. The deceased’s husband has been detained for questioning. Police also informed her family members. The body had not been brought down at the time of filing this report, since her family members were yet to arrive. Police said further procedures would be carried out after they reached the spot.
