The unusual incident occurred on Sunday when Kameshwar Mishra, a poet and beneficiary of a social security pension scheme, visited a CSC centre to withdraw his monthly pension.

To his surprise, the account displayed a balance of Rs 759,69,51,951- nearly Rs 759 crore. The shock deepened when his son’s account was checked and was found to reflect a similarly massive balance. According to the family, the combined amount shown in the two accounts exceeded Rs 1,500 crore. Kameshwar Mishra said he could not comprehend how such a huge sum had appeared in the accounts and urged the bank and relevant authorities to investigate the matter.
He said he brought the issue to public attention so that officials could verify the balances and rectify any error if one had occurred.
