Iranian officials say close to a dozen projectiles have struck Qeshm Island, with explosions reported across the strategically important island. State media says military sites in Bandar Abbas were also hit. Kuwait says Iranian drones targeted three border posts and an oil platform, wounding one person.
Earlier, air defence systems were activated in at least four Gulf countries in response to Iranian drones and missiles. The US military says it struck around 140 Iranian military targets overnight. US President Donald Trump says the Strait of Hormuz is open to shipping, a position echoed by the US military.
