Israel has officially scheduled its next elections for October 27, 2026, marking the first time in 38 years that elections will be held on their original date and the first government to complete a full term in 53 years. The Knesset will begin its election recess on July 17, with candidate lists closing on September 7.
Recent polls indicate a tight race, showing Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud Party tied with Gadi Eizenkot's party at 23 seats each. The upcoming elections are expected to be closely contested, heavily influenced by the ongoing conflicts in Gaza and tensions with Iran, as well as fluctuating domestic support for Prime Minister Netanyahu since the October 2023 attacks.
