(Representational image) Five minor boys have been arrested for allegedly stabbing a 34-year-old man to death after a minor argument over mud splashing in northwest Delhi’s Ashok Vihar area. The incident took place on July 9, Thursday, when the victim, identified as Bansi Lal, according to ANI, was walking near Prem Bari Pul towards Keshav Puram.

Lal, who worked at a CCTV shop in Old Delhi’s Lala Lajpat Rai Market, was found unconscious at the spot with multiple stab injuries on his chest, abdomen and limbs. Police said Lal was rushed to Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. According to investigators, the area near the canal had accumulated mud and slush and was frequently used as an open toilet. Lal was passing through the muddy stretch when some mud accidentally splashed on a group of boys walking nearby. Police said the incident led to an argument between Lal and the group, which eventually escalated.

During the confrontation, one of the juveniles allegedly took out a knife and attacked Lal. The other boys allegedly joined the assault before fleeing from the spot. Following the incident, police registered a murder case and began an investigation. Officials used CCTV footage and local intelligence inputs to identify and trace the accused. The five minors were later apprehended, and the knife allegedly used in the crime has also been recovered, police said.
