The alert was received around 12:13 am, when the Navi Mumbai Police Control Room received a call claiming, “Dawood has planted a bomb at the Taj Hotel." The message was immediately passed on to the Mumbai Police Main Control Room, following which multiple security agencies were mobilised.
BDDS, Police Conduct Extensive Search Teams from the Mumbai Police and the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) rushed to the heritage hotel and carried out a thorough search of the property as a precautionary measure. According to officials, anti-sabotage checks were conducted across key areas of the hotel, including the main lobby, restaurants, banquet halls, parking areas, swimming pool and other sensitive locations. However, no suspicious object or explosive material was found during the operation. Police confirmed there were no injuries or damage, and normal operations at the hotel resumed after the search was completed. Probe Underway To Trace Caller Police have launched an investigation to identify the person behind the threat call and determine whether it was a hoax or part of a larger conspiracy.
Investigators are examining call records and other technical evidence. According to initial findings, the call is believed to have originated from the Turbhe area of Navi Mumbai, and police are working with local authorities to trace the caller. High-Security Landmark The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, located opposite the Gateway of India, remains one of Mumbai’s most heavily guarded landmarks because of its historical significance and its association with the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks (26/11). Given its security profile, any threat involving the hotel triggers an immediate response from law enforcement and specialised bomb disposal teams. Sunday’s threat was handled under standard security protocols, with officials confirming that the premises were safe following the search.
