State president of Ganiga Community Organisation Suresh Sajjan has urged Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to release ₹500 crore for the Karnataka Ganiga Development Corporation to strengthen the community through government programmes. He was addressing a gathering after being felicitated for becoming the State president of the Ganiga Community Organisation in Yadgir on Saturday. “The Ganiga community is one among the Veerashaiva Lingayat communities in the State. The economical status of the community, among others, is weak.
The State should release ₹500 crore to the corporation, which was formed by the then Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, to take up development works and strengthen the economic condition of the community with concrete programmes,” Mr. Sajjan said. He requested the community people to give priority to educating their children. “Education can bring changes and take the community to heights. Parents should focus on their children’s activities to ensure that no child develops bad habits but is getting education to become a good citizen,” he said.
Speaking about the future plans for the Ganiga community, Mr. Sajjan said that he has discussed with a private insurance company the issue of extending accidental death benefits and a digital card will be issued to each family to avail of such benefit, if required. MLA Channareddy Patil Tunnur, who inaugurated the programme, said that Mr. Sajjan is a prominent community leader who can bring justice to the community with his dream programmes. Under his leadership, the community will be able to get all government benefits.
Tunnur also promised a site for the construction of a Ganiga Bhavan in Yadgir city. Meritorious students were felicitated during the programme. The Peethadhipathi of Khasamath Sri Shantaveera Mahaswami, Shishekhar Swami, Someshwaranand Swami, Rachanagouda Mudnal, Sharanappa Manegar, Nagarathna Kuppi, Mahesh Reddy Mudnal, Channappagouda Mosumbi and Shankrappa Sajjan and others were present.
