Vietnamese police have detained the captain of a speedboat that capsized off southern Vietnam, resulting in the deaths of 15 Indian tourists. The vessel, carrying 32 Indian tourists and four Vietnamese crew members, overturned near Phu Quoc island amid rough sea conditions and high tides. Authorities in An Giang province have launched a criminal investigation against the 57-year-old captain, Nguyen Hong Hai, for alleged violations of waterway transport safety regulations.
According to the Indian Embassy, 16 survivors have been discharged from the hospital and are returning to India, while one remains in critical condition. The bodies of the deceased are being transported to Ho Chi Minh City before being flown back to India.
