In an interview, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari discussed the upcoming Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and its impact on reducing travel time and logistics costs. He stated that the expressway will significantly decrease traffic in Delhi and improve connectivity to cities like Jaipur and Dehradun. Addressing concerns about the use of ethanol as an alternative fuel and allegations of vehicle damage, Gadkari dismissed them, saying, "This is a political attempt to defame me and defame ethanol." He emphasized the economic and environmental benefits of biofuels, noting that they reduce fossil fuel imports and create employment.
Gadkari also highlighted the integration of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence in highway construction to monitor road quality and contractor performance. Speaking on accountability, he remarked, "The mistakes are bona fide forgive them if the mistakes are mala fide sack them." Furthermore, he outlined plans to eliminate legacy waste in Delhi by 2027 and utilize municipal waste and stubble in road construction to combat air pollution.
