A new World Health Organization report warns that annual cancer cases could nearly double by 2050, with one in five people expected to become a patient. The report highlights deep global inequalities in cancer care, noting that breast cancer survival rates are significantly lower in low-income countries compared to high-income nations.
It also reveals that 45 percent of affected individuals face financial hardships. Medical experts attribute the projected increase to population growth, aging, obesity, and air pollution. However, they emphasize that 40 percent of cancers are preventable through lifestyle changes, such as avoiding tobacco and alcohol, and utilizing vaccines for HPV and Hepatitis.
Advancements in medical technology and increased awareness offer hope for better prevention and treatment.
